Deck & Fence Staining

DECK AND FENCE STAINING

Keep Outdoor Wood From Going Gray

Tennessee weather is hard on outdoor wood. Sun grays it, rain swells it, and mildew settles into it. Staining and sealing on a regular schedule keeps a deck or fence sound instead of turning it into a replacement project. We clean, repair, and finish decks, fences, pergolas, and railings.

Our Deck and Fence Process

Wash the wood to remove dirt, mildew, and the failing remains of the old finish. Let the wood dry fully, because stain applied to damp wood will not penetrate or hold. Replace or repair damaged boards and reset popped fasteners before finishing. Sand rough and splintered areas, especially handrails and steps you actually touch. Apply stain or sealer evenly, working with the grain and keeping a wet edge to avoid lap marks.
Timing is everything. Wood needs dry days before and after staining. We watch the forecast and will move your date rather than seal moisture into your deck.

FAQS

Common Questions

It depends on exposure. A deck in full sun needs attention more often than a shaded one. When water stops beading and the color looks flat and dry, it is time.
